The idea of using heat to help destroy tumors has
been around for a long time. In the early 1800s,
there were medical reports that some people
with cancer showed signs of tumor shrinkage
after they developed high fevers. By the
end of the last century, there were reports
of some complete remissions because of
high body temperatures.
